Radha Agrawal - Reading & Signing

Meet Radha Agrawal, the amazing entrepreneur and founder of Daybreaker! Radha will give a talk and sign her new book, BELONG: Find Your People, Create Community, and Live a More Connected Life

It’s the great paradox of the digital age: the internet connects us to millions of people, yet we feel more isolated than ever, with 1 in 4 Americans saying that they have zero friends to confide in. Social media has become the new fast food—the initial rush of happiness and instant gratification quickly replaced by feelings of loneliness and disconnect once the phone is put down. It’s easy to get likes but hard to make a friend. Radha Agrawal, Co-founder of Daybreaker—the massive morning dance party that occurs monthly in 25 cities worldwide—calls this “community confusion.”

BELONG: Find Your People, Create Community, and Live a More Connected Life was born out of the methods, tips, and tricks Agrawal used to create the Daybreaker community and what she observed as that community evolved.  She saw the need for all of us to find a place of acceptance, repair our social fabric, and reconnect.  A modern how-to manual for figuring out where and with whom we fit, and complete with beautiful, playful illustrations, BELONG encourages readers to first go in—a process that includes discovering what we want and what we have to offer—and then out, so they can find their community and their people. Exercises to guide readers in their journey to belonging are sprinkled throughout, including:

  • How to determine personal core values, interests, and abilities—a vital first step to finding and creating one’s dream community

  • How to tame inner thoughts of comparison, perfectionism, and judgment

  • 10 foolproof ways to nurture community, including how to listen, take initiative, and design a thoughtful, intentional space meant to foster and encourage belonging

  • How to find and create community at every life stage, from high school to later in life.

Thousands of people flock to Agrawal’s morning parties because they’re a place where they can dance without fear, where everyone is greeted with a smile and a hug, and where they leave with a natural high. In an increasingly mobile, transitional, and digitally fractured world, this hunger for real connection through community is only growing. BELONG is here to help people find it.
