Kill Shot: Virtual Book Discussion with Author Jason Dearen at the Denver Public Library

We are very excited to partner with the Denver Public Library for Kill Shot: Virtual Book Discussion with Author Jason Dearen on August 19. Please register here: www.denverlibrary.org/event/kill-shot-virtual-book-discussion-author-jason-dearen

From the Library: "Join investigative journalist Jason Dearen as he discusses his book Kill Shot, which recounts the true story of America’s deadliest drug contamination outbreak. Dearen’s in-depth medical thriller recounts how fungal meningitis spread from a compounding pharmacy in Massachusetts to multiple states throughout the country, killing more than 100 people and infecting thousands. This book is an indictment of self-regulation and a call to action to protect patients from even greater harm. It is also a lesson in how legislation does -- and does not -- get passed when profits are at stake. The author will share how you can protect yourself from medicines created in unregulated compounding pharmacies.

Dearen is an award-winning journalist for the Associated Press and was a 2018-2019 Knight Science Journalism Fellow at MIT. His work appears regularly in hundreds of newspapers and websites, including The Washington PostThe GuardianUSA Today, and The New York Times. He has twice been nominated by the Associated Press for the Pulitzer Prize. Dodie Owens, Adult Services Librarian, will moderate the discussion, followed by audience Q&A."
