About the Authors: Marc Anthony Richardson is an artist and novelist from Philadelphia. Year of the Rat, his debut novel, won the Ronald Sukenick Innovative Fiction Prize, and an American Book Award. Richardson was also the recipient of a PEN America grant, a Zora Neale Hurston/Richard Wright fellowship, and a Vermont Studio Center residency. Messiahs, his second, avant-garde novel, was released in Fall 2021. His work has appeared in Conjunctions, Callaloo, Black Warrior Review, Western Humanities Review, and the anthology, Who Will Speak for America?, from Temple University Press. He received his MFA from Mills College, and currently teaches creative writing at the University of Pennsylvania, where he is the recipient of a 2021 Sachs Program Grant for Arts Innovation. He was a 2021 Creative Capital Award winner, and will be a writer-in-residence at Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa.

André O. Hoilette is a Jamaican-born poet living in Denver, Colorado. He is a Cave Canem alumnus and the former editor of ambulant: A Journal of Poetry & Art and former assistant editor of Nexus Magazine. He earned an MFA in Fiction and Poetry from Regis University’s Mile-High MFA program. 2020 nomination for Pushcart Prize. 2021 Finalist Frontier Poetry Chapbook Prize, 2021 Semi-finalist Cave Canem Book Prize. Previous publication in Role Call, Stand Our Ground, Bum Rush the Page: A Def Poetry Jam and Cave Canem 10-Year Reader anthologies and journals: Inverted Syntax, Cultural Weekly, Rigorous, milk magazine, Nexus magazine, South Broadway Press and Burrow Press.
