Free Writing Workshop with Rheea Mukherjee

The Politics of Personal

‘Everything is political’

Most writers don’t intend to write a story with a political motive. But in the absence of this intention, there exists a whole world of direct and indirect political commentary. No matter how apolitical a story may seem, every narrative we write allows us to understand gender, sexuality, globalization, ethics, privilege, and class in a unique way. What are the merits of examining the personal perspective we employ when we build our stories? Do political labels matter when it comes to writing fiction? This two-hour workshop will include mini-readings from global literature in order to facilitate rich conversations and observations. We’ll also be working with writing prompts and examining its political relevance together. This workshop will be fun, intense, and probing. This is a space where we can discard binary truths and jump into the grey!

What to Bring: A notebook, a pen, and a wide-open mind!

All attendees MUST register at  to come to the workshop. Space is limited.
