BookGive Denver logo

BookGive is the non-profit arm of BookBar, founded in order to better facilitate the thousands of books we donate each year to those in need. Many of our customers have asked how they can help with what we do. We have incorporated a few of our charitable programs into BookGive so you can participate in the giving. Each donation, whether cash or gently used books, is now tax deductible. Non-profit recipients of BookGive include:

  • Colorado Coalition for the Homeless
  • Bienvenidos Food Bank
  • Mount Saint Vincent Home
  • Denver Public Schools
  • Reading Parnters
  • Rainbow Alley
  • The Gathering Place
  • SafeHouse Denver

BookBar staff loves to run almost as much as we love to read. Join or contribute to our team! Our first event is the Colfax Marathon on May 19-20, 2018 Whether you are running the relay, 5k, half or full marathon (or would just like to contribute to our cause) go to and choose BookGive as your non-profit partner. Stay tuned for our next team event.

Local to Local

Launched in 2017, Local to Local is a program we developed to connect local authors to local school children. In partnership with The Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators – Rocky Mountain Chapter (RMC-SCBWI), we chose more than a dozen authors' books for donation to Northwest Denver schools before summer break. BookGive will be purchasing several cases of each title for distribution. In some cases, the authors will even accompany the donations to meet the children and sign their new books.

Northwest Denver Book Exchange

Co-founded by BookBar and BookBed owner Nicole Sullivan in 2009, the Northwest Denver Book Exchange is a free, bilingual event at North High School that brings community members together once a year to exchange books with one another. Any remaining books are donated to Colorado Coalition for the Homeless and other local nonprofits. Visit Northwest Denver Book Exchange.
